Want to support your community AND learn about how to start a private practice? It’s all happening here (and by here I mean online) on Tuesday December 15, 6-7pm. My beloved colleague Andrea Redeau and I (under my Lloyd Collective umbrella) will be discussing how to financially prepare for and sustain a private practice. Andrea and I are both passionate about business, clinical excellence, and helping more clinicians enter the private practice realm.
JOIN is a radical, anti-oppressive, housing focused non-profit in Portland that has done so much good for our community. As this year comes to an end, so many of our fellow community members are suffering from the economical impact of COVID. They could use our support to pay rent, buy food, and *hopefully* buy a gift for a loved one.
The first half of the workshop will be spent in presentation from Andrea and I on the financial aspects of practice, and 6:30-7pm will be an open question and answer period, all questions welcome. We’ll also be briefly sharing about our own work, including Andrea’s upcoming training here and her mission to get more Black therapists in private practice, and my 8-week program to help more liberation-focused clinicians enter the business world.
The fee to this workshop is a pay-what-you-can donation to JOIN. We’ll pause in the middle of the training for folks to make a donation. Sign up here!

Licensure Workshop at Portland State University
When I graduated with my master’s in social work from PSU in 2010, I didn’t have a clue about how to get my clinical license. I also didn’t understand why I even needed a license, and I definitely didn’t know what clinical supervision was. Well, the student has become the master. Or in this case, the clueless has become the master. In theory. This training is open to anyone in Oregon wanting to get their clinical social work license.

Now of course I’m passionate about helping other social workers develop professionally and clinically. Clinical supervision has become a big part of the work I do, and I love helping others connect the dots around what actually works in clinical interactions, and what really doesn’t matter. I also love helping people find their strengths, and develop their weaknesses. Everything is a learnable skill, and that’s exciting.

Ethics Training with Susie Snyder, LCSW and Lisa Race, LCSW. I’m helping produce this training which is on May 8th. Susie and Lisa will teach ethics from an authentic self perspective. Come and we’ll learn together!
I’m helping produce this training. A lot of us are experiencing similar problems as our clients due to the pandemic and subsequent shut-down. Susie and Lisa will offer some interesting and well-researched ideas as well as clinical demonstrations on how to show up as our very best and most authentic selves in an ethically-informed way.
