Q: What’s something you remember vividly from your own clinical supervision as a new therapist?

La: Something I remember vividly from my own supervision is the deep desire to do everything right and to learn everything and anything all at once. In hindsight, I now recognize that this was rooted in a deep fear of failure. Looking back, I can truly say that clinical supervision provided a supportive space where I could process my experiences, share vulnerabilities, and begin to shape my professional identity as a social worker. My clinical supervision experience laid a strong foundation for me to understand who I want to be professionally, how I want to practice, and how I want to show up in this work. My hope is to offer that same kind of space and support to fellow social workers as they navigate their licensure journey.

Bonus prompt:  Supervision with me feels like watching a good movie together.  Sometimes it’s fun and easy, sometimes it gets a bit serious, but there’s always something to reflect on, learn from, and take with you to the next scene.
