Obtaining Your Social Work License in Washington p.2: Choosing a Track

Washington has two tracks for licenses: Advanced License, and Independent License. Both tracks require first obtaining an associate license (see my post about that here). Before obtaining your associate, you need to decide which track to pursue.

I recommend simply getting your LICSW. It’s more versatile and is useful in every setting, while the LASW is very limited. If you want more information on the differences, the first page of this document has the best descriptions I’ve found.
